Basic Principles of Weight Training
In this course, an introduction to weight training principles and training methods will be viewed through theory and practice. Students are expected to acquire knowledge about types of weight training exercises, determining program goals and formulating a program. Structuring a weight training program, techniques and safety issues will be emphasized. Weight training/strength training for special populations such as young athletes and women and strength training for seniors will be analyzed and practised. A high focus on personal skill level improvement, conditioning and instruction will be emphasized. PREREQ: PHED 2506/7 (may be taken concurrently). (exp 3) cr 1.5.
